Quick Hits—The Day After

More news than you can shake a stick at today; here's a few city-centric views:

  • Pelosi's ascension already has the state's delegation dreaming of goodies; Hastert's demotion hurts Chicago. We'll see how this plays out as Mayor Daley gears up for a sixth term, which would tie his father's record.
  • And with Dems in the House and Fenty the new mayor in D.C., will the District finally get the franchise?
  • Ehrlich has just conceded in a surprisingly close race in Maryland, so Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley is the new governor. If he can do as well for the state as he has for the city, this is good news.
  • Anti-Kelo referenda passed in nine of 12 states, but not California, Washington or Idaho.
